The typical placement is from Monday through Friday (however should you wish to work on weekends, it’s something we can arrange to suit your needs). So, if you’re not in a placement, you’ll be able to take advantage of the evenings and on weekends to explore the area you’ve chosen.

Ghana
Ghana lies within West Africa along the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean. Certain medical electives are located within the town of Takoradi which is about a four hour drive along the coast away from Accra, the capital. Accra. If you’ve never been to Africa previously, Ghana is perfect for your first trip. Outside of the location make sure you take advantage of the breathtaking beaches, lush forests, and vibrant Ghanaian tradition.

Kakum National Park – Trek through the forest canopy, observe wildlife from the treetops, and if you’re daring enough, you could even stay the night in the treehouse
Cape Coast Castle – Take an informative tour of the forts of slaves from the 17th century and learn details about the underwhelming, yet fascinating story of the slave trade.
Mole National Park – Located further to the North, from here you can take a safaris to see elephants, lions , and baboons.
The Gold Coast – Sun-soaked sandy beaches, beach resorts are plentiful including Axim Beach being a favourite for our students.
Tanzania
Tanzania is an East African country on the Indian Ocean. Dar es Salaam is where our Tanzanian program is located; an cosmopolitan city that is the ideal starting point to discover this amazing country. Beyond the location, you’ll be overwhelmed with the variety of unforgettable travel experiences. From postcard-perfect white beaches and some of the amazing safari parks around the globe.

Zanzibar – Just one hour away from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar’s breathtaking beaches and crystal-clear waters are a paradise for backpackers, divers and revelers.
Safari Safari Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Mikumi What a variety! The entire ‘Big Five’ are available in these reserve and parks. There’s also the chance to observe huge herds of wildebeest that roam the plains of the park during their annual migration
Mount Kilimanjaro – The highest mountain in Africa. A trek with a guide to the summit can take approximately 4-7 days. If you have the time to include this on the start or end of your journey it’s an experience that should not be missed.
